Community Outreach Coordinator Posted August 6, 2024 Shiawassee Family YMCA Website Location: Owosso Full Time Position Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position is grant funded and continuation of this position is contingent upon continued grant funder. Under the limited direction and guidance of the CEO and Childcare Director, the Community Outreach Coordinator will serve as the “food manager” of the Shiawassee Family YMCA including mobile food pantries, weekend bag programs, and CACFP and SFSP coordination. Additionally, this person will help coordinate all child care efforts, including summer camp. Supervises and schedules membership services staff, coordinates team meetings, and provides coverage for 50% of weekly time. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Coordinates and supervises membership services staff. Creates monthly staffing schedule and fills in as needed (nights and weekends required). Monitors attendance. Trains new staff. Schedules department meetings. Provides coverage at the front desk for 20 hours per week. Coordinates Shiawassee Family YMCA food efforts. Coordinates monthly mobile food pantries with food partner, volunteers, community partners and participants. Collects and reports MFP data to food partner and other stakeholders. Coordinates weekend food bag distribution with food partner and community partners. Coordinates the Little Food Pantries to ensure they are filled when empty and in good working order. Coordinates CACFP and SSFP programs during school year and summer camp, including: Developing and following weekly menus, Ordering and purchasing food, Keeping accurate records, Overseeing the sorting and distributions of food, Ensuring all staff involved are appropriately trained, Coordinating site visits with partners as needed. Investigates, applies for, and secures our own sponsorship to operate CACFP and SSFP on our own, independent from other YMCAs. Maintains accurate records of inventory. Ensures that all materials and food are properly stored for safety. Obtains and maintains a ServSafe Certification. Follows all food safety guidelines. Supports all childcare programming for the Shiawassee Family YMCA. Assumes responsibility for the health, safety and welfare of all children enrolled in a YMCA program. Helps ensure that all programs meet and follow the State of Michigan license requirements. Supports the development and distribution of a monthly family newsletter for each site Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures high quality member-focused programs through innovative program development, evaluations and on-going training of staff. Coordinates special events and activities. Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business or equivalent. Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency. Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising. Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations. Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others. Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations. YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred. CPR and First Aid certifications may be required.
