Business and Community Liaison Hired, Begins Work

On May 6, 2019, the Shiawassee Regional Education Service District (RESD) Board of Education approved Leyna Miller’s hiring as the new Business and Community Liaison. The Business Liaison position is a shared position funded by the Mid-Michigan MiSTEM Network, Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP), and the Shiawassee RESD. In her new role, Leyna will be facilitating projects and programming that connect local employers and educators to promote student awareness, exploration, and experiences in STEM businesses and industry.

Leyna earned her Bachelor’s of Science and Masters of Science degrees from Michigan State University. Leyna has almost a decade of experience as a CTE Agriscience teacher in Shiawassee and Gratiot counties.

The Shiawassee RESD, SEDP and the Mid Michigan MiSTEM Network look forward to partnering through their shared employee and strong working relationships to prepare students in Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Ionia and Shiawassee counties for high demand, high wage careers to grow our local communities and workforce. SEDP President/CEO, Justin Horvath, stated, “We are excited to be working with Leyna in this new position, which will strengthen education and business partnerships and ensure our companies have the talent they need in the future to grow our local economy.”
