Community Leaders and Partners Break Ground on 10 New Homes in Corunna, Strengthening Local Housing Supply July 21, 2026 Community leaders, local officials, and development partners gathered on July 20th, 2026 at Crestview Heights in Corunna to celebrate the official groundbreaking of 10 new single-family homes in the neighborhood. The development is the result of a collaborative public-private partnership uniting the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership, Allen Edwin Homes (Michigan's largest homebuilder), the City of Corunna, the Shiawassee County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority, and Shiawassee County. Together, these partners are working to address critical gaps in the local housing supply and create new pathways to homeownership for area residents. "This project represents an investment in local families and the future of our community," said Justin Horvath, President/CEO of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership. "By bringing together public and private partners around a shared vision, we're not just building homes — we're building opportunity and strengthening the foundation of Corunna and Shiawassee County for years to come." A standout feature of the development is its commitment to housing attainability: two of the ten homes will be reserved for households earning up to 120% of the Area Median Income (AMI). This provision ensures that working professionals have meaningful access to quality, affordable homeownership opportunities in the communities they serve. “We understand that housing is a critical need in our community, and I am proud of the work we’ve done to support projects like this,” said Shiawassee County Board of Commissioners Chair Greg Brodeur. “We are excited to be building in Shiawassee County.
