Great Lakes Ready Mix & Great Lakes Fabrication & Machining Start Operations in Vernon Township, Open House Planned for December 8

November 30, 2015

Vernon – Two new businesses are underway in Vernon Township, thanks to the efforts of a local entrepreneur. Great Lakes Ready Mix is a producer of ready mix concrete, and is located at 7505 E M-71, utilizing the batch plant space that formerly housed concrete pipe manufacturer PreMarc Corporation. Great Lakes Fabrication & Machining has opened in the former Co-Op Machine & Tool facility at 7665 E M-71, and is specializing in precision machining and fabrication of metals, plastics, and other materials for custom pieces to large scale production. Both firms were recently started by Bryan Marks, who already operates multiple businesses in the area, including Great Lakes Fusion (a construction company focused on residential, commercial, industrial, landfill and pipeline projects throughout the US and Canada) and Exotic Concrete Creations, a decorative concrete contractor. Together, these new projects are generating approximately $750,000 in capital investment and seven new jobs. “It is exciting to move forward with these new ventures, which have the capability to serve customers not only locally, but throughout the US and Canada. We are also pleased to be able to invest in the community and provide quality jobs for local residents,” said Marks. “Bryan is one of our most valued businessmen in Shiawassee County, creating multiple companies that are really helping to grow the local economy. We are pleased to be able to assist his growth, and look forward to more economic opportunities he will generate in the future,” said Justin Horvath of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership. There will be an open house on December 8th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Great Lakes Fabrication & Machining for interested parties to learn more about this operation. RSVP’s are requested, and you may do so by contacting Justin Horvath at 989-725-9241 or jhorvath@sedpweb.org.
