SEDP Announces Addition of Alexis McDowell as Investor Relations Manager November 14, 2024 SEDP Investor Relations Manager Alexis McDowell The Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership (SEDP) is excited to announce Alexis McDowell as the newest member of our team. Alexis will be serving as the organization’s Investor Relations Manager, responsible for outreach to all current and prospective investors to ensure the value of their participation with the program. Alexis grew up in the Village of Byron, where she graduated from Byron High School in 2019 and still resides. After high school, she attended Northern Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics with a Minor in Economics. Alexis’ interest in economics was sparked during the COVID-19 pandemic when she initially enrolled at Lansing Community College as an undecided major. Coming from a small business family, she saw firsthand the challenges her parents faced running The Village Limits and Willow Brook Golf Course in Byron. This exposure deepened her understanding of the impact local economic development can have. Through an internship at the Lake Superior Community Partnership in Marquette, Alexis served as a project manager for their Childcare SPARK cohort. The program helped individuals obtain state licensing to start in-home childcare businesses while offering critical training in financial management, business planning, and operations. This experience and her broader involvement in economic development initiatives gave Alexis valuable hands-on experience in housing, workforce development, and community growth—further solidifying her passion for local economic development. In her personal life, Alexis enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, and golfing. She values a healthy work-life balance and often finds relaxation in outdoor activities and family gatherings. In addition to her role at SEDP, Alexis also manages her family’s business, where she applies her business management and operations skills. This hands-on experience keeps her connected to her roots and allows her to contribute to the ongoing success of the family-run enterprise. Alexis is deeply committed to supporting local businesses and enjoys leveraging her expertise in economic development to help her family's operations flourish. For current or prospective SEDP investors who would like to meet with Alexis to discuss their participation in the program may contact her at (989) 725-9241 x5 or via email at amcdowell@sedpweb.org.
