Shiawassee County Selects Burns & McDonnell to Perform Planning Work Funded through Michigan Site Readiness Improvement Grant

October 2, 2020

Shiawassee County has contracted with Burns & McDonnell for planning services to be conducted on a planned supersite in the City of Durand and Vernon Township. The property has been assembled for industrial development, and this work will create a masterplan for development of the property.

The project is being funded in its entirety by a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) as a part of the Michigan Site Readiness Improvement program. As part of the program, MEDC will provide grant funding to a community or other public entity to assist with the development or enhancement of industrial sites to make them more competitive during the site selection process.

“We received a number of strong submissions for this work and Burns & McDonnell brings a unique combination of expertise in site evaluation, planning, utility and railroad considerations,” said Shiawassee County Coordinator Dr. Brian Boggs.

“We are thankful to have the support of the MEDC on this project, which will help us prepare a premier site in the State of Michigan,” said Justin Horvath, President/CEO of the Shiawassee Economic Development Partnership.
